This past Sunday, my three dogs, Huckleberry, Edie and Oscar, two Jack Russells and a Labrador, took off on an adventure. I usually have them wearing tracking collars, but the devices were being charged. They escaped through an open gate on the farm where we live. It was a summer night and I hadn’t noticed they were gone until the Lab came back alone. My husband and I got in the farm vehicle to go look for them.
As we were searching the area, we received a phone call from the local animal rescue which is across the street to where we live. Since the dogs did not have their collars with information in them it was all down to their microchips which, thankfully, were read and I was contacted at once. The two little dogs were only gone 20 minutes and I immediately went right over to get them. Needless to say, we are grateful for the extra step we took in microchipping our pets. It really is awesome insurance and a real comfort to know that their details can be read. I feel really lucky and I like to share my good fortune.
