Our cat Bubbles just loves people. But sometimes he follows them and gets lost. After three times of reporting our cat as missing in the lost-pet section of our neighborhood blog and then getting reunited with him, we thought, why haven’t we just microchipped him? Life would be so much easier!
Just two days after we got him chipped, my husband and I got texts from PetLink that said Bubbles had been found. “What?” we both thought. We didn’t even know he was missing! We have a cat door so it’s not unusual for him to be outside a lot during the day. Turns out, once again, he had followed someone about 15 blocks to the business part of our neighborhood. Who knows how many busy streets he crossed! According to the person who took him into the local animal hospital to scan for a microchip, Bubbles walked right into a tavern on our neighborhood’s main drag, and amused the patrons by jumping up on the bar to let people pet him. At some point one of the bartenders got off work in the late afternoon, and started home. Bubbles followed her all the way to her house. She thought, this cat really must be lost! So she took him in to the vet, and we were reunited shortly after. All I can say is, wow! What a great service, and how quickly we got to experience the value. I may not be able to keep my cat out of bars, but at least I can rest easy knowing that he can be found when he goes pub crawling.
