Our older Golden Retriever died a month short of his 18th birthday only weeks ago. With this loss still fresh, we did not initially welcome receiving an email from PetLink about a missing dog. In fact, it was a horrible feeling to think we could lose another loved family member. Still, we were incredibly lucky that a skilled person, a dog walker, found our other dog, an Australian Shepherd named Cutter. The person knew just what to do and took Cutter to be scanned, locating us quickly through PetLink. The quick contact by email from PetLink alerted us to Cutter’s ‘Missing’ status and, equally quickly, they connected us with the location where he had been scanned.
Cutter is so sweet that I could understand why anyone would love to keep him. It was entirely our fault that his tags were out of date as we had recently moved and had not updated our contact information. It was only his chip that connected him back to us! If it were not for Cutter’s PetLink chip and the dog walker who cared for him, this story might not have had a happy ending.
