My cat, Madison, disappeared on November 25. Between then and yesterday, the vet clinics, shelters and the pound were closed. All I could do was wait, hope and pray. Honestly, I had almost given up. I realized that at least three cats that wander the neighborhood had also disappeared and my worst thought was that a predator, like an owl, had gotten all of them and my own Madison. Yesterday morning at 9:00 a.m., a text and an email from PetLink popped up on my phone telling me that Madison had been found. I called immediately and, while I was talking to them, a call from my vet clinic came in too. I figured it was about my appointment with two of my other pets, Dixie and Ellington, at 9:30 a.m., and that maybe that they needed to reschedule due to an emergency. The lady at PetLink connected me to the person who was holding Madison and it was my own vet clinic! What are the odds that would happen with all the vet clinics there are in my city?! I will admit that I fell apart and was crying so hard that I could hardly talk. In fact it transpired that a lady somewhere in the neighborhood had taken Madison in and that she was also a client at my vet clinic. They told me that she was disappointed that Madison had an owner because she wanted to keep him. I asked them to call her and give her my name and phone number as I wanted to thank her properly for taking care of Madison and meet up with her. I wondered if she realized that Madison sprays in the house which is why he is an outside cat. Anyway, he will no longer be outside during the night, regardless of the hassle of him messing in his crate or his complaining. He is home and safe and I am so grateful. If I had not had Madison microchipped when I adopted him from the street, I might never have found out that someone close by was taking care of him.
