Two weeks after we lost our Pekingese, Chloe, we got a call from the local Humane Society saying that there was a gentleman in their office who had brought in our dog. I had reported she was gone on my PetLink account on the day we noticed Chloe was missing and now her microchip number had put the office in touch with us.
My girls and I met with the gentleman in a school parking lot and it was a sweet reunion. As we got out of our van, the girls ran out to Chloe, calling her name, and she became excited. We were so happy, but sad at the same time, when we saw how she had lost weight. The gentleman told us that he had given water and a can of dog food to Chloe, which she almost finished, meaning she was really hungry and maybe had not been fed for a long time. When we got home, my youngest daughter knelt down next to Chloe and as well as playing, started praying and giving thanks that Chloe had been returned home to us.
