Homeless, hungry, dirty and living alone, Paco first came to my attention wandering around the property of my parents and sisters out in the Texas country. It was Father’s Day of 2012 and Paco was wandering around the property looking for scraps or anything to eat. He was dirty, full of fleas and scared. My sister told me she was going to call the pound the next day and have Paco taken in. I felt so bad for the poor little Chihuahua that I decided to take him home with me that day. Before leaving my parents’ house that evening, my niece bathed Paco and fed him. He was very skittish and pretty scared when we placed him into the pet kennel. I have a nice sized back yard and figured Paco would be fine outdoors. He seemed to be doing well the first week, although he was afraid of the birds that kept stealing his food! So then, I brought him inside where he’s super safe with me. My mother and family love him and are all so surprised at what a great little guy he turned out to be. They all say he’s lucky to have been adopted by me, but I think it’s the other way around. I love the little guy and feel so lucky every day when I walk through my door and Paco is there to say hello. I have to watch Paco because he has an adventurous spirit and his microchip helps give me peace of mind in case Paco should ever get lost.
